East Village - Manhattan
The East Village is bordered by East 14th Street on the north, Broadway to the west, Houston Street to the south and the East River. This area gained recognition in the early 1960's when it was established by writers, artists, musicians and actors who wanted to live downtown, yet could not afford the real estate prices of its more upscale neighbor, Greenwich Village.
