SOHO is bordered by Houston Street on the north (SOHO is an abbreviation for SOuth of HOuston), Canal Street to the south, West Broadway to the west, and Crosby Street on the east. This area was formerly an industrial zone comprised of cast-iron buildings, warehouses and factories. Today, SOHO's old structures have been converted into ultra luxury lofts and its cobble stone streets are brimming with an endless fusion of art galleries, trendy boutiques and eclectic restaurants.
